Travis Kelce Reveal: Dallas Boos Aside, HE Wanted to Join Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys players have supported the Dallas Mavericks’ run in the NBA playoffs, and so has Texas native Patrick Mahomes.
Kansas City Chiefs star Mahomes brought his tight end Travis Kelce to the AAC for Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals and when shown on the jumbotron, fans leveled boos at Kelce.
Kelce took it all in stride – but later revealed that his mild disappointment is the result of him once wishing he could be a Cowboys player himself.
Kelce later addressed the boos during his New Heights Podcast with co-host and brother Jason Kelce.
“I got booed twice!” Kelce said. “I get it. I get I’m not from Dallas, just kinda like an innocent bystander. I don’t know. Maybe they don’t … I don’t know. Maybe they just don’t like the Chiefs, I don’t know.”
Maybe we don’t like the Chiefs. Or maybe it’s fan backlash from Kelce dating Taylor Swift; you know, just information overload.
Anyway, Travis Kelce went on to talk about his fondness for the 90’s Cowboys teams growing up. … and his boyhood dream.
“I grew up a huge Jason Witten appreciator,” he added. “The Cowboys were always the f–king boys when they had Deion Sanders, and Emmitt Smith. Dude, I used to want to be (on the Cowboys), man.”
That comment caught his brother and former Philadelphia Eagle Jason’s attention.
“Dude, stop saying that. You never wanted to be a Cowboy, why would you have wanted to be a Cowboy? This never happened, you never wanted to be a Cowboy.”
Travis would add that he messed up the interview during his pre-draft meeting with the Cowboys. … when the subject turned to his marijuana use in college.
Or maybe Dallas messed up. Either way, Just imagine if that meeting went a different direction … Travis Kelce with a star on his helmet? No boos at the AAC?
Ahhh what could have been. …
