Chiefs’ Chris Jones shares CRYPTIC tweet on social media about leaving the Chiefs for another team just weeks after claiming that he will return to the team at Super Bowl LVIII parade
Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones has hinted at contract talks with the team ahead of NFL free agency, as he is set to be an unrestricted free agent this offseason.
The 29-year-old, three-time Super Bowl champion, who has been a main stay on the Chiefs’ defense since being drafted in 2016, shared a picture of himself celebrating Super Bowl LVIII with head coach Andy Reid on X, formerly Twitter, on Thursday.
At the top of his phone’s screen was an icon showing that he had been on a call for an hour, too.
‘KC…….’ was written as the post’s caption.
But, the cryptic tweet could mean that another deal is in the pipeline for Jones, a five-time Pro Bowler.
Fans were confused by the player’s intent with his post, as a user on X tweeted: ‘WHAT THIS MEAN’
‘1 hour phone?’ another shared, adding: ‘The deal is done.’
Last month, following Kansas City’s overtime win against the San Francisco 49ers in Las Vegas, Jones said he would return to the Chiefs during the team’s Super Bowl parade.
‘I need three of those rings, baby, we ain’t done yet. Kansas City we will be back here next year. And for those who want Chris Jones gone, I ain’t going nowhere, baby!’
The Mississippi native is inarguably the best defensive tackle in the league after yet another first-team All-Pro season, where he got up to 10.5 sacks, 30 tackles and 29 quarterback hits in 20 games for Kansas City, including four playoff matchups.
