Taylor Swift in Hot Water Again Over Travis Kelce’s Private Jet Trip to Sydney; Public Brands Them ‘Climate Hypocrites’
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce finally reunited at her Eras Tour’s Australia leg, but not everyone felt happy about it.
The “Lover” singer launched her Eras Tour in Melbourne and held her three-day show in the area from February 16 to 18. She scheduled more shows in Sydney from February 23 to 26.
After traveling from Japan to the U.S. to support Travis Kelce at the Super Bowl, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end also did the same by flying from Hawaii to Sydney.
Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce Branded “Climate Hypocrites”
Commercial flights from Sydney to Honolulu, Hawaii – and vice versa – take about 10 hours.
To cut the trip short, Kelce boarded a Bombardier Global 6000 plane on Wednesday and reached Sydney earlier than expected. The aircraft was reportedly the number one most-tracked flight worldwide, with 9,000 people monitoring its journey online.
On X, controversial internet user Oli London called out Swift for calling herself a “climate change activist” even when she reportedly contributes to CO2 emissions.
“Climate change activist Taylor Swift sends her private jet from Sydney to Hawaii to pick up her boyfriend Travis Kelce and bring him to Australia. The round trip will emit 3 metric tons of CO2. The CO2 emissions equate to melting 95.4 square feet of Arctic sea ice.”
Author Jebra Faushay responded by writing, “Greta Thunberg’s silence on this is deafening.”
One wrote, “While we’re forced to use paper straws people like Taylor Swift, who preaches to us about the climate and the harm CO2 is doing to the planet, continue to jet around in their private aircraft. That one needless flight will emit more CO2 than my car does in an entire year.”
“These climate hypocrites are all the same,” another said, while one X user chimed in, “Was there not a regular normal plane with a first class cabin available???”
Swift and her representatives have yet to respond to the latest backlash.
Taylor Swift Lets Go of Her Private Jet
Swift’s private jet use has been controversial since last year.
In January, the Federal Aviation Authority confirmed she sold her Dassault Falcon 900, which was previously listed under SATA LLC. It is now registered to a company in Missouri.
She currently owns Dassault 7X, which is still registered to Island Jet Inc., which has the same address as Taylor Swift Productions.
