Patrick Mahomes awkwardly reveals how much he wants the Chiefs to KEEP Travis Kelce at glitzy awards dinner just HOURS before his shocking trade is announced “It’s a very tough one”
Patrick Mahomes made an impassioned case for his Kansas City Chiefs team to keep L’Jarius Sneed at an awards show on Friday night – just hours before the cornerback was traded to Tennessee Titans.
Sneed was magnificent for the Chiefs as they won their second straight Super Bowl last season but made no secret that he wanted a big pay day as he headed towards free agency after their Las Vegas victory in February.
Chiefs quarterback Mahomes attended the 101 Awards in Kansas City on Friday night and was asked about Sneed’s future on arrival.
‘I don’t have any say in that,’ Mahomes answered to Fox4KC. ‘I think you’ll hear from everybody on our team that we want Sneed.
‘The player he is, that person he is. He’s one of those guys that’s hungry every single day.

‘He’s not going to be the most vocal guy, not always yelling and screaming. But the mindset he has and that determination in how he practices, you see it every day. He leads those guys.
‘We want everybody to get their money. So, whatever happens, we’ll be excited for him. But hopefully, that’s with the Kansas City Chiefs.’
But hours after Mahomes spoke, Sneed’s future was resolved and it was bad news for the Chiefs quarterback.
Sneed is reportedly close to joining the Tennessee Titans in a $76million deal that will make him one of the highest-paid cornerbacks in NFL history.
According to ESPN, the Titans and Sneed have negotiated the outline of an agreement over recent days and Bleacher Report claims Sneed will earn an average of $19m over four years, with $55m guaranteed.
The move is set to be formalized once Sneed passes his physical.
Sneed was selected in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL draft and went on to establish himself as an important part of Andy Reid’s defense.
