Kate Hudson has been GRILLED after making a Surprise Personal Hygiene Confession: “I don’t wear and use any…”
Kate Hudson confessed to an unusual hygiene habit she shares with former co-star Matthew McConaughey.
The Bride Wars star, 45, admitted that neither she nor McConaughey, 54, wear deodorant while appearing on Wednesday’s episode off Watch What Happens Live.
‘We’re au naturel, you know?’ she told host Andy Cohen, after he asked her whether it was true that she forced the actor to use deodorant while filming their 2008 romantic comedy, Fool’s Gold.
‘No! He doesn’t wear deodorant,’ she replied, before adding, ‘And by the way, I don’t either.’
The actress also revealed that McConaughey has a has a strong scent, saying she would ‘smell him from a mile [away].’
The Interstellar star previously talked about his deodorant stance in a 2008 interview with Playboy, and said Hudson would hint that he needed to do something about his body odor.
‘She always brings a salt rock, which is some natural deodorant, and says, “Would you please put this on?”‘ he said. ‘I just never wore it. No cologne, no deodorant.’
McConaughey added, ‘The women in my life, including my mother, have all said, “Hey, your natural smell smells, one, like a man and, two, smells like you.”‘
Despite being anti-deodorant, Matthew insisted he took his personal hygiene seriously, claiming to take multiple showers a day and brush his teeth up to five times a day.
He just ‘doesn’t like to smell like someone or something else.’

The Oscar winner first shared his dislike of deodorant in his 2005 Sexiest Man Alive profile, telling People that he hadn’t used it ‘in 20 years.’
In 2021 Matthew’s hygiene habits came up again as his Tropic Thunder co-star Yvette Nicole Brown discussed his unique scent.
She recalled: ‘I remember that Matthew McConaughey said that he did not use deodorant and that he didn’t have an odor. So my first thought was, “I’m going to get as close as I can to him to see if he’s right.”‘
‘He does not have an odour. He smells like granola and good living. He has a sweet, sweet scent. That is just him, and it’s not musty or crazy.’
Elsewhere in the conversation Kate said that she would be ‘open’ to a sequel of their 2003 film, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days.
‘All that matters would be the script and if Matthew and I were into the script,’ she said. ‘I think we’re both totally open, it has just never happened.’
How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days ended up being a massive hit, more than tripling its $50million budget by grossing $177.5million.
The film was inspired by a non-narrative book of the same name filled with comedic rules about things to avoid while dating.
McConaughey plays an ad man who makes a bet that he can make any woman fall in love with him, but his plan goes awry when the woman he chooses, a writer, is planning to write a story about how she got her boyfriend to breakup with her.
Last year the duo were back together as they celebrated the 20th anniversary of the romantic comedy. They caught up virtually with a video chat that they posted to Instagram in which they looked back on the film.
The subject turned to their sizzling chemistry in the film, which led them to declare that they ‘kiss nicely’ when on screen.
The Almost Famous actress admitted that her fans asked ‘all the time’ what it was like to share a kiss with the True Detective star in their 2003 film.
‘My whole thing is like, we’re always in weird environments [when we kiss on screen]. It’s never like… there was only one time when we kissed that was like so nice and gentle, in the bathroom,’ she said with a laugh, via People.
‘Yeah, everything else has not been climate-controlled,’ Matthew replied jokingly. ‘Everything else was like, “Swim up to the top, the sharks almost ate you, you just fell from a plane from 300 feet, tread water and before you catch you breath, kiss.”‘
‘When you’re kissing anyone in a movie, it’s professional; we’re actually trying to create something that evokes something in a certain way that might not exactly be the way you would necessarily do it in real life,’ Kate responded to clarify.
Despite the artificiality of a kiss on a film set, Kate suggested she was still a fan of the experience.
‘But, in respect to our now partners, we do kiss nicely. It was always a very nice kiss,’ she declared, while Matthew ‘absolutely’ agreed with her.
McConaughey has been married to the model Camila Alves since 2012, while Hudson has been in a relationship with Danny Fujikawa since 2016.
