Adele defends Taylor Swift against backlash for attending NFL games to support her man Travis Kelce at the Super Bowl as she tells haters to ‘You have no life, get a f***ing life!’
Adele has spoken out in support of Taylor Swift, after the pop star received hate from NFL fans for attending football games to support her boyfriend Travis Kelce.
Adele, 35, told those criticising Taylor, 34, to ‘get a f***ing life’ and declared that the singer made the games ‘more enjoyable to watch’.
Taylor has been dating Kansas City Chiefs star Travis, 34, since last September, and quickly became of pop culture phenomenon.
Since attending her first Chiefs game in September, she has gone on to be pitchside at 12 of the Chiefs’ 18 games this season, amassing huge media attention.
The ‘Taylor Swift’ effect has reportedly generated £260million for the NFL since she began dating Travis, with female viewership increasing by 9 per cent – giving the league its best numbers on record among women.
Travis is now vying to win his third Super Bowl championship as his Chiefs face off against the San Francisco 49ers in Las Vegas on Sunday evening.
During her latest show at her Las Vegas residency on Saturday night, Adele discussed the upcoming game with the audience.
She admitted that she had initially been rooting for the 49ers to win, but had switched to supporting the Chiefs because of Taylor.
The Easy On Me hitmaker said: ‘I want the 49ers to win but I also want the Chiefs to win. I think I want the Chiefs to win just because Taylor Swift goes for them…’
As the crowd erupted into cheers, Adele then passionately declared: ‘And all of you that are complaining about Taylor Swift being at the games, get a f***ing life! It’s her f***ing man!’
She added: ‘She’s actually made it a bit more enjoyable to watch, because like I said I have no idea what’s going on.’
Fans were full of praise for the singer for her support for her fellow artist, and took to social media to gush: ‘We LOVE Adele for that, I always knew she was mother’ while another added: ‘Protect Adele at all costs.’
Several others enthusiastically declared: ‘Queen supporting queen’ and many excitedly demanded the pair join together to make music, saying: ‘now we want a collab’.
It’s not the first time Adele has spoken out in support of Taylor, previously calling her ‘one of the greatest songwriters of our generation’.
The English singer-songwriter gushed about Taylor’s talents in October 2022, at Happy Hour With Adele, a fan event celebrating the release of her music video for I Drink Wine.
When asked if she had listened to Taylor’s latest album Midnights, Adele admitted that she hadn’t because she had been busy in 12-hour rehearsals each day.
But she went on to laud the American singer as ‘one of the greatest songwriters of our generation’ as she showed her support for Taylor’s record-breaking songs.
Confessing she hadn’t listened to Taylor’s 10th studio album yet, Adele said: ‘I haven’t, but the only reason is ’cause I’ve been in rehearsals for, like, 12 hours a f***ing day, I’m sick and tired of anything musical.
‘But I think Taylor’s one of the greatest songwriters of our generation, so I will definitely give it a listen. I loved the two in Covid very, very much, and I think she’s fun, she makes a release fun!’
It comes after Taylor touched down in Los Angeles on Saturday on her private jet, following an eight-hour flight from Tokyo in time to support Travis at the Super Bowl.
She wrapped up the last of her four shows in Japan for her Eras Tour on Saturday, before flying back to the US and making a speedy getaway to her home in Southern California.
From there, she’s expected to travel to Las Vegas in time to support Travis and the Chiefs on Sunday evening.
